About The Musikians

Users of Musikchan collectively make tracks, submit those under the name The Musikians and then publish it all for free. Everyone is free to express themselves however they wish musically, given there is at least some effort to be heard in the music.

The purpose of The Musikians is simple: freedom of expression, artistic growth, capturing the moment or even just having fun messing around. It is an outlet for all artists out there, no matter the style, skill or experience. This makes for an ideal situation for musicians to practise and receive feedback, have their music heard or simply create an enjoyable track for the listeners.

There is a new The Musikians release every 2 weeks, although there is a chance that this will be extended. When this happens, a new thread is created on Musikchan where everyone can discuss the musical material. Usually shortly after, the release will be distributed on the internet for everyone to hear. Visit Musikchan's /music/ board for information about the current release, such as a link for submission, the submission deadline, release date and more. Past releases can be found on our discography page, or at links to locations at the right of this page.

Rules for submission & album art/title

General

  • You can name your track however you want
  • The track list is usually in semi-randomly order and the number of your track is chosen for you
  • Tracks must be no longer than 10 minutes (however, if you want to have a track longer than 10 minutes, just ask in a thread, really)
  • There must be at least a small amount of effort put into the music (e.g. no purposely making bad music or submitting music not made by you)
  • Check the current pinned The Musikians thread on Musikchan.com for the deadline for submissions and more

Album art and album title

  • The users of Musikchan determine the album art and title of an upcoming release by rolling:
  • Imageboard posts all end with a number. Consecutive numbers at the end of a post number are called dubs for two, trips for three, quads for four, etc.
  • First post in a The Musikians thread ending in even dubs (00, 22, 44, 66, 88) determines the album cover if said post contains an image
  • First post in a The Musikains thread ending in odd dubs (11, 33, 55, 77, 99) determines the album title if said post contains text
  • Album art will be appropriately edited to create an album cover. Usually done by Nex, but feel free to volunteer and submit your own creation in a thread
